POSITION: PURCHASING MANAGER – 9685
DEPARTMENT: Administration
DIVISION: Purchasing
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
SALARY: $1639.00 Semi-Monthly (Minimum)
CLOSING DATE: June 27, 2009
DUTIES: Assume management responsibility for all services and activities of the Purchasing Division including technical and specialized procurement of supplies, materials and services for the city. Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedure; assess and monitor work load, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationship; identify opportunities for improvement and review with the Administrative Services Director; implement improvements. Monitor and review purchase or requisitions, review and process contracts; sign and approve purchase orders as authorized. Prepare bid packets; maintain contact and negotiate with vendors; oversee and supervise preparation of tab sheets; present recommendation to the city council.
QUALIFICATIONS: Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in general or municipal purchasing including three years of supervisory or administrative responsibility. Equivalent to completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within forty (40) miles of City Hall located in the City of Jackson.
